Walking to the end of the world
I have had it in my head to do a trans Africa adventure since being a little boy. Our family had been staying in Paradise Beach and a trans Africa man visited the village on a horse with a bow and arrows and saddle bags and he was on his way through Africa… He shot an arrow for us kids directly up into the sky and it disappeared into the sun. Needless to say that guy was an ultimate hero to me.
Probably been my dream for 50 years now. Later I wanted to do it by bicycle. And now I can finally fulfill my ultimate bucket list wish. Seems unreal.
I’ve always had a penchant for grand adventure and pushing the limits of endurance having done multiple long distance sports challenges, and adventures.
The travel bug always existed.
I have been a Cycle Tour Guide since 2014 talking about cycling to the end of the world through Africa but never getting over to action. Life happened.
So being at odds and ends, and having experienced sea changes in my existence these past two years, The Great Trek has became a reality.
So the decision to walk with the TrekKart, which I designed and built, is born out of a desire to take it slowly, do it in an epic fashion which could make people sit up and notice.
To literally decrease my life down to 1 cubic metre, and do the simplest satisfying thing possible…. Oh say what!
Yes just walk through Africa to Nordkapp.
And do maximum good in so doing.
HELP SUSTAIN MARK on his TREK
by you purchasing me a coffee or meal, I will be able to focus on getting my mission accomplished and I humbly thank you.
